Alhaj Abdul Jawaadh Alim Waliyyullah Trust

Alhaj Abdul Jawaadh Alim Waliyyullah Trust is one of a leading voluntary organizations located in Kattankudy division of Batticaloa district in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka. It was established on 11.06.2003 under the basis of various social and religious goals. Thereafter it was enacted by the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka under the Incorporation Act No. 46 of 2009. Alhaj Abdul Jawaadh Alim Waliyyullah Trust is called as AJAWT in abbreviation.

This institution which was founded in 1988 has also been registered as a non-governmental organization.

Objectives:

· Implementing women’s programmes on social vigilance.

· Assisting poorer students and other children for their educational development.

· Providing people with alms in relation to the remembrance days of Islamic religious leaders

· Providing youngsters-males and females with self employment opportunities by giving trainings and counseling.

· Implementing projects in conjunction with the other governmental and non-governmental organizations.

This institution, which consists of 509 members, was established in 1985. It has also been registered as a Development Society at the office of Batticaloa District Government Agent. The tasks which are conducted by this association as follows:

a) The historical events and the great services of Islamic leaders are commemorated while assembling weekly.

b) Annually the almsgiving ceremony is organized for over 5000 people in memory of Ghouthul A’lam Muh’idhdheen Abdul Quadir Jeelanie.

c) Leadership and other important seminars are conducted especially for women.

d) Allocating human resources for the social development schemes.

Al Jamiathur Rabbaniyyah Arabic College

This was established by Dr. Al Haj Mowlavee Abdur Rauf Misbaahee- Bahjee. Islamic Education is taught such as, Arabic language, Islamic Law, Art of Hadiths and Islamic Sufism etc. Over hundred students are given knowledge on the above Islamic Education in free of charge. For the above project the funds are provided by Al Haj Abdul Jawadh Alim Waliullah Trust.
